Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Thursday clarified that Aadhaar-phone number link was not mandatory for online registration for Odisha government’s Subhadra Yojana.
During a visit to Subhadra Help Desk opened at Anganwadi centre at Shrikhetra Colony in Puri, Parida interacted the applicants who had turned up to submit the forms for registration of their names under the Yojana. She was informed by the officials at the camp that around 80% of women beneficiaries had already filled up their forms.
The deputy chief minister directed the officials to ensure that no beneficiary is left out of the government’s welfare scheme. She also told them to inform the people that the government has opened helpline number 14678 to clarify any doubt about submission of the forms.
Further clarifying the doubts of the people present there, Parida said even if Aadhaar number and phone number of a beneficiary has not been linked, the Aaadhaar card can be verified through biometric process. The beneficiaries can submit the application forms and register their names for the Subhadra scheme without Aaadhaar and phone link, she added.
On Wednesday, the deputy chief minister had clarified that there was no deadline for registration for the scheme. Despite the clarification, heavy rush and long queues were witnessed at post offices and Seva Kandras across the state for updating Aadhhaar card to link with latest phone number for registration on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, irate locals blocked National Highway-57 near Bhograi in Balasore district frustrated over long wait, spanning over 3 days, for updating Aadhaar card.
