Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch, which is probing the mysterious death of Paralakhemundi ACF Saumya Ranjan Mohapatra, on Wednesday received lie detection test reports of the three accused.
The CB will examine the polygraph test reports and investigation will progress accordingly, stated reports.
The polygraph test of ACF’s wife Bidyabharati Panda was conducted on September 20 while that of Paralakhemundi DFO Sangram Keshari Behera and cook Manmath Kumbha was conducted on September 18 at Odisha State Forensic Laboratory (OSFL) here.
The reports will be matched with the statements of the three accused recorded earlier, said Crime Branch ADG Sanjeev Panda. The findings will help expedite the investigation, he added.
It may be mentioned that the DFO had earlier denied his complicity in the death of the ACF but a video clip surfaced on social media in which he was seen with the two doctors and tehsildar-cum-executive magistrate Achyutanand Jani at the district headquarters hospital (DHH). It is believed that the video was shot when the dying statement of Soumya was being recorded at the DHH.

Soumya’s family members had also named the DFO in the FIR, accusing him and Bidyabharati of having ‘pre-planned’ his murder. They also accused the two of having an illicit relationship. They had pointed fingers at the cook as he was present in the official residence of the ACF on the night of July 12 when he was rescued with critical burn injuries.
