Cuttack: Actor-turned-politician Anubhav Mohanty has finally received the decree of divorce, formally ending his marriage with estranged wife Varsha Priyadarshini.
He received the order on Wednesday, a day before his 10th wedding anniversary.
Describing his 10 years of marriage with fellow actor Varsha as “worthless, meaningless, heartless, painful, and false”, Anubhav took to his X handle to share the news with his fans. “I pray for her happiness. No offence. Happy Rose Day,” he wrote.
In a decisive turn to the marital discord, the Orissa high court last month ruled that that BJD MP from Kendrapada was entitled to get a decree of divorce in his favour under section 13(1)(a) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
He had moved the high court after the family court rejected his divorce plea in November 2023 after the couple could not prove their allegations and counter allegations.
Anubhav and Varsha got married on February 8, 2014. He had sought divorce from her on grounds of cruelty while clamining that the marriage between the two had not been consummated.
Anubhav had filed the divorce petition in a family court in New Delhi in July 2020. Later acting on Varsha’s petition, the Supreme Court transferred the divorce case to Cuttack on March 5, 2021.
