Bhubaneswar: Popular actress from Odisha Anu Choudhury on Monday lodged a complaint with the Cyber police station here, accusing a web portal of circulating fake news on her heath status.
The web portal had allegedly claimed that the actress has been diagnosed with cancer and admitted to a hospital. “A well-wisher from Puri informed me about the fake news. I have lodged a complaint in this regard with Cyber police and submitted the link to the web portal,” Choudhury said.
The actress further alleged that some web portals engage in such cheap tactics to draw viewers. “People should not follow unethical means for monetary benefits. Police should take appropriate action in this regard,” she added.
The cyber police have initiated a probe into the matter, sources said.
