Cuttack: Actress Varsha Priyadarshini was posed around 185 questions during the final round of hearing in the divorce case in the family court at Odisha’s Cuttack city on Monday.
Both Varsha and her husband Anubhav Mohanty appeared before the family court for the final hearing. Speaking to media persons after the hearing, Anubhav’s lawyer Lalitendu Mishra said Varsha was asked around 185 questions during the cross-examination that lasted for two hours.
Varsha’s lawyer Asish Mishra claimed that the actress was asked several irrelevant questions during the cross-examination. With this, the cross-examination of Varsha has been completed.
In his reaction, Anubhav told the media that had total confidence in the justice system. “I trust the judicial system in our country and hope that I will get justice soon. The questions asked to Varsha were routine ones. I am not surprised by the objections raised by her lawyer. She always complains about it,” he said.
It may be noted that Anubhav had filed the divorce petition in a Delhi court in July 2020 six years after their marriage in 2014. Later, the case was transferred to the family court in Cuttack on the direction of the Supreme Court.
As the proceedings got delayed in the family court, actor-turned-politician Anubhav had moved the Orissa High Court. The High Court on July 13 directed for concluding both sides’ arguments within four weeks and disposing of the case in three months (October-end).
