Odisha Asks Beneficiaries To Take COVID Jab; Sets December Target To Complete 1st Shot

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has set a target to administer first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to all eligible beneficiaries among the target population by December this year.

Informing this, Director, Health and Family Welfare, Department said the vaccination centres have been increased from 1600 to around 2400 across the state. Attention has been paid to rural area where the majority of such centres have been opened, he added.

Dr Panigrahi said 40 per cent of the eligible beneficiaries in the Stage have received both dosages of the vaccine while only 82 per cent  have received the first dose.

The nodal officer for state vaccination programme said clusters of one or two villages have been formed in the state to speed up the process. After the launch of ‘Har Ghar Dastak’, vaccination coverage increased, he added.

As of today second dose of 31 lakh beneficiaries is due and every day 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh beneficiaries are getting their second dose.

Meanwhile, the list of all beneficiaries who have not taken their first dose is being prepared and they are being motivated to come forward, he added.
