Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended Assistant Section Officer (ASO) in the office of Engineer-In-Chief, Water Resources Department, here while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.
According to a Vigilance release, the accused, Soumya Ranjan Dash, had demanded the illegal gratification from the complainant for processing his house building loan file for sanction of loan. The entire bribe money was recovered from him.
While a case has been registered under Section 7 of Prevent of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, simultaneous searches are on at two locations linked Dash to ascertain whether he had accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, the release added.
