Bhubaneswar: Logjam continued to prevail in the Odisha Assembly on Wednesday due to the uproar by the Opposition Congress and BJP members forcing the Speaker to adjourn it twice till 3 pm.

Prior to the beginning of the session, the Congress had requested the Speaker for a motion on the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

As the House session began at 10.30 am, the leader of the Opposition requested the Speaker Pradip Amat to order for a debate on the law and order situation in the House to which he turned down their request and ordered the resumption of Question Hour session.

At this, the irate Congress members led by the Opposition chief whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati rushed to the well of the House shouting slogans against the government.

On the other hand, the BJP members sought a reply from the government on the massive financial bungling in the Biju Yuva Bahini.

Unable to run the proceedings, the Speaker adjourned the House till 11.30 am.

The Speaker again adjourned the House till 3 pm after the House reassembled during Zero Hour at 11.30 am as the Congress members reiterated their demand for a motion for a debate on the law and order situation while the BJP members sought a reply from the government on the large-scale bungling of state exchequer in the name of Biju Yuva Vahini.

On the other hand, the ruling BJD members raked up the issue on the derogatory statement of journalist Abhijit Iyer-Mitra on the Sun Temple at Konark and Lord Jagannath.
