Bhubaneswar: BJP leader Golak Mohapatra on Tuesday assigned the party’s ‘remarkable’ performance in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections to the support of the voters and efforts of the ‘karyakarta’ (workers).
Speaking at a presser in Bhubaneswar, Mohapatra said, “The present trend is very encouraging for BJP. I thank all the voters, particularly the youths and women, for reposing faith in the BJP and giving the party a clear majority to form the government. It is because of your support that we have been able to bring down the misrule of the present government.”
Thanking the party workers for the success in the elections, he said, “The party’s landmark performance has been possible due to the efforts thousands of ‘karyakartas’ (workers) who have been working tirelessly for our candidates across the state. They have been engaged in not only campaigning but also organising the meetings and mobilising the people. They have faced all kinds of opposition, even in some cases of violent reactions from the rival parties.”
“I am thankful to the Central leaders who turned up in large number to encourage the state leaders and workers. They attended around 225 public meetings during the course of campaign across the state,” Mohapatra said.
He also thanked the media for bringing the failure of the present government in various fronts to the knowledge of the people and spreading awareness. The hard work put in by the media in covering the party’s campaign all over Odisha is also highly appreciated, he said.
“Things will be clear by evening when the final results will be known. But the mandate of the people is a great responsibility for us. We look forward to execute it with all sincerity,” the BJP leader said.
