Bhubaneswar: The 16th Odisha Assembly will have 59 new members who have been elected for the first time.
Of the 112 elected BJD members, 41 are first-timers. Similarly, 14 out of the 23 elected BJP members and three out of the nine elected Congress members, are new faces.
The new faces also include Makaranda Muduli, who has been elected from Rayagada as an independent candidate.
Besides, the new Assembly will have 13 women members, of which 12 are from BJD and one from BJP.
The representation of women members in the State Assembly was less since 2000. While 14 women members had represented the Assembly in 2000, their number had come down to 12 in 2004 and four in 2009.
