Puri: An honest auto-rickshaw driver returned a bag, containing gold jewellery, to a family who left it in his vehicle in Puri district.
The bag belonged to Pramod Kumar Singh of Balasore district. Singh and his family had come to Puri to attend an engagement ceremony.
On November 30, the auto-rickshaw driver, Sraban Kumar, took the family from a hotel at Chakratirtha Road to Nrusingha temple. The family got down from the auto but forgot to take the bag.
When the family realised about the missing bag, which had a gold necklace and other ornaments, they looked for it everywhere but couldn’t find it. Later, Singh was informed that Kumar had deposited the bag at Sea Beach police station. He went there and collected it.
Singh hugged and thanked Kumar for his honesty.
Kumar said that when he saw the bag on the passengers’ seat, he looked for Singh and his family. When he couldn’t find them, he deposited the bag with the police. “I dropped them in front of Nrusingha temple. After finishing lunch, I saw the bag,” he said.
