Bhubaneswar: Constrained by its weak financial position, the Odisha Congress is taking support from BJP and has become its B-team, said BJD’s national spokesman Sashmit Patra.
Patra said this in response to the Congress’ call for Odisha bandh on Friday. The bandh has been called to support the Congress demand for resignation of Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged link with the prime accused in Mamita Meher murder case, Govind Sahu.
Since the Congress is taking financial sponsorship from BJP, it is obvious that it is dancing to the tunes of the saffron party, he said while speaking to media persons, here on Thursday.
“The family (of Mamita) has lost a bright daughter and we are all saddened by her death. The family has requested everyone not to politicise the case and they are satisfied by this investigation. Still Congress seems to be joining hands with the Odisha BJP to do dirty politics in this case,” said Patra.
He further said at a time when the people of Odisha are back on their feet and at work after COVID pandemic devastated their lives and livelihood for the past two years, the Congress has called the bandh which would further affect their income.
Stating that if Congress has any evidence in the matter, it can go to the court and seek justice, Patra said people of Odisha do not want a bandh now.
“We urge the Congress not to stay a B-team of BJP and in the larger interests of the people, it should withdraw its bandh call tomorrow,” Patra said.
