Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court has granted anticipatory bail to BJP MP Jual Oram in the case of misbehaviour with a woman and is yet to hear the plea of Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu in the assault case of government officials.

Sundargarh MP of BJP and former Union minister Jual Oram has filed a petition for anticipatory bail after a woman activist of the party filed a case at Jhirpani police station in Rourkela accusing the former of misbehaving and abusing her over phone.

Hearing the bail plea on Thursday, a single bench of the High court Justice S Pujahari granted anticipatory bail to the MP on condition that he would cooperate with the investigation.

The court directed that in case of arrest of the petitioner in connection with the case, he would be released on bail by the police.

The Mayurbhanj MP had allegedly assaulted District Planning Board Deputy Director Ashwini Mallik and Assistant Director Debashis Mohapatra in his office in Baripada on January 21.

Both officials sustained injuries with one of them fracturing his arm. After the two officers filed complaint in this regard at Baripada Town Police station, a case has been registered against Tudu.
