Bhubaneswar: With the State Election Commission (SEC) setting the ground rules for panchayat elections by publishing the list of reserved seats and fixing the expenditure limit for candidates and polling time, the BJP has geared up to draw its strategy.
The main opposition party in the state will have a brainstorming session on the panchayat polls at its two-day state executive committee meeting to be held in the city on November 23 and 24.
Revealing this to the media on Saturday, general secretary of the state BJP Golak Mohapatra said Odisha in-charge of BJP D Purandeswari and her assistant Bijay Palsingh along with Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Biseswar Tudu will attend the crucial executive committee meeting of the party.
On the first day of the meeting, scheduled to be held at the party office in the city, the strategy for the panchayat elections will be chalked out by the senior party leaders. The second day’s meeting at a hotel will discuss the political situations in the state and the country, Mohapatra said.
According to political analysts, the BJP has already gone into poll mode by targeting the BJD government in the state on almost all issues. It has also been aggressively carrying out anti-government campaigns on recent issues like Mamita Meher murder case by demanding resignation of Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra.
