Bhubaneswar: Neeraj Chopra started a javelin revolution with the Olympic Gold and the game is gradually getting much-needed attention.
On Monday, Odisha’s Kishore Jena made the state proud by winning gold in the 3rd National Open Javelin Throw Championships at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.
This is the first National title for Jena who achieved the feat with a throw of 74.26 m.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted: “Congratulate #Odisha athlete Kishore Kumar Jena on winning National Open Javelin Throw Championships title with a best effort of 74.26m. Wish him best for future.”
Back in September, Jena had overpassed his own state record to emerge as the winner in Men’s javelin at the 68th Odisha State Senior Athletics Championship by throwing a distance of 76.41 metres.
After Neeraj Chopra’s stint at the world stage by grabbing gold in the Javelin throw at 2021 Olympics, the sport has been receiving a lot of attention. India is looking for its next star, will it be Jena.
