Bhubaneswar: This boy is truly the ‘Rancho’ of ‘Three Idiots’. He loves to take classroom teaching outside the class and see for himself how it works in the actual world. When his friends were eyeing high marks, he was busy putting into action what he had learnt in the class.
While Achievers are not born talented but they possess the ‘I Can Do It’ attitude. So was the case with Odisha boy Sovesh Mohapatra, who won the ‘YONO SBI 20 Under Twenty’ award for ‘Art & Literature’ in the male category. He was honoured at a ceremony in Bengaluru.
SBI honoured 20 young achievers, who are transforming society with their skills, with ‘YONO SBI 20 Under Twenty’ awards’.
Sovesh Mohapatra, 17, a child scientist, author and philanthropist is one of them. The young achiever lives by his, own quote, “Be the one, who sets limits for others.” His areas of interest have always been different from the rest of the crowd.
Sovesh researched on power generation at the age of four. He has also developed a project on domestic water power plant for multiple uses. He has represented India at the International Young Inventor Project Olympiad organised by the Government of Georgia in 2016.
In 2015, Mohapatra received Best Child Scientist Award by the Department of Science and Technology, GOI for his project. He is also the winner of the poster presentation held by 23rd Children’s Science Congress-2015.
The winners were chosen through public voting that counted to more than 1.7 lakh in 10 diverse categories such as sustainability, performing arts, acting, entrepreneurship or innovation, sports, global Indian, disability champion among others.
The nominations were shortlisted by a jury panel of eight eminent personalities including Bollywood actress Dia Mirza, sports journalist and author Boria Majumdar, Microsoft India MD Sashi Sreedharan, MD and CEO, NPCI Dilip Asbe and Social Media influencer Mallika Dua, among others.
