Bhadrak: Police seized brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore from an auto rickshaw and arrested four persons in this connection from NH-16 near Dhamara bridge in Bhadrak district on Saturday.
The accused were identified as Shaik Abdul Hamid (45), and Manoj Das of Balasore district and Kunilata Sharangi (30) and Ajay Kumar Sharangi (32) of Bhadrak district.
Police suspect that the accused are part of a drug racket based in Jaleswar.
Sources said police intercepted the auto-rickshaw following a tip-off and seized the brown sugar as well as Rs 1 lakh in cash,
