Padampur: Affirming his resolve to fight for the cause of farmers and work for women’s empowerment, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday hit BJD’s high voltage campaign trail for Padampur Assembly bypoll saying he believes in action and not in words.

Addressing a poll meeting at Jharbhandh, the BJD President started his speech with ‘Jai Nrusinghanath’ and offering tributes to eminent Odia poet Gangadhar Meher.

Asserting that Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has all along been fighting for giving justice to the farmers, Naveen said his government has taken a slew of measures for the welfare of the farming community. The party will continue to work for the welfare of the farmers, he said.

Similarly, BJD aims at ensuring empowerment of women, he said, adding that women in the state are marching on the path of progress following a number of steps taken by the BJD government.

Stating that his government has also been working for the welfare of kendu leaf pluckers, the Chief Minister said, “I don’t believe in words, I believe in action.”

Emphasising that the BJD government has been  fighting for the rights of poor people, he said his government is working for betterment of living standards of kendu leaf pluckers and all their demands will be fulfilled.

Promising to ensure speedy development of Padampur in Bargarh district, Naveen appealed to the people to vote for BJD candidate Barsha Singh Bariha in December 5 by-election.

The BJD supremo is also slated to address election meetings at Paikamal and Padampur in an effort to bolster the prospects of the party candidate.
