Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet on Saturday approved seven proposals of six departments on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Minister of Works, Law & Excise Prithviraj Harichandan said the Cabinet decisions included the Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Yojana. The scheme aims at increasing the milk production in the state and raising the income of 15,47,837 dairy farmers.
Under the scheme, the state government would bear 85% of the insurance cover of the cattle while the rest 15% will be paid by the owners. It will be implemented for five years from 2024-25 to 2028-29 financial year with a budgetary allocation of Rs 1,423.47 crore.
The scheme will have eight sub-schemes including Buffalo Entrepreneurship Development, Go-Palan Yojana, Go-Sampad Bima Yojana, Calf Rearing Scheme, Incentive to Dairy Farmers, Strengthening of Dairy Organisation, Support to OMFED and Feed & Fodder production scheme.
The Cabinet also approved the proposal to amend the Odisha Public Distribution System (Control) Act, 2016. The amendment will allow the government to extend the deadline for replacing private dealers with institutional dealers under the PDS scheme till March 31, 2026.
