Odisha Cabinet Approves Mission Shakti Scooter Yojana

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet on Friday approved Mission Shakti Scooter Yojana to provide mobility support to SHC federations.

Speaking to media persons on the Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, chief secretary PK Jena said 17 proposals submitted by 11 departments were approved.

The “Mission Shakti Scooter Yojana” aims at providing mobility support to Community Support Staff (CSS)
and Executive Committee (EC) members of SHG federations by facilitating their access to scooters.

Under this scheme, eligible individuals will benefit from full interest subvention on bank loans upto Rs 1 lakh to purchase a scooter of their choice, making the transition to sustainable mobility more affordable and accessible than ever before.

Around 75,000 CSS comprise Community Resource Person-Community Mobilisation, Master Book Keeper, Prani Mitra, Krushi Mitra, Bank Mitra, Livelihood Support Person, Community Resource Person — Enterprise Promotion, Udyog Mitra, Business Development Service Provider including SHG members acting as Business
Correspondent Agent.

Nearly 1,25,00 Federation leaders comprising Executive Members and Office Bearers of GP/Ward Level Federation, Block Level Federation (BLF)/City Level Federation and District Level Federation (DLF) will benefit under the scheme.

With a dedicated budgetary provision of Rs 528.55 crore for next 5 years, Mission Shakti is expected to make this scheme widely accessible, empowering more Community Support Staff and EC members across the State.

The Cabinet also approved the following proposals:

  • Widening and strengthening Marshaghai-Jamboo road in Kendrapada under State Sector Road Development Programme for the year 2023-24.
  • A budget of Rs 1001.14 crore for expanding Comprehensive Cancer Services across the state with an objective to provide cancer care nearer to the household of the patients. Eleven Comprehensive Cancer care units will be built within 2 years at DHH Bargarh, VIMSAR, Burla, SLN Medical College & Hospital Koraput, MKCG Medical College & Hospital Berhampur, Saheed Rendo Majhi Medical College & Hospital Bhawanipatna, Kalahandi, B.B. Medical College & Hospital Balangir, PRM Medical College & Hospital, Baripada, FM Medical College & Hospital, Balasore, Dharanidhar Medical College & Hospital, Keonjhar, Govenment Medical College & Hospital, Talcher and Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar.
