Bhubaneswar: Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, a 1990-batch IPS officer of Odisha cadre, assumed charge as the Special Director-General of the Border Security Force’s (BSF), Western Command, in Chandigarh on Monday.
The command manages operations along Pakistan border and Khurania will be responsible for the management, administration and deployment of BSF manpower and assets in the Western Sector.
Prior to this posting, he was serving as Special Director-General (Operations) at the BSF Headquarters in New Delhi.
The Odisha-cadre officer earlier served as SP of Rourkela, Mayurbhanj, Ganjam and several other districts. On promotion to the rank of DIG/IG, he was posted as DIG/IG of Bhubaneswar Range, Southern Range Berhampur and Northern Range Sambalpur.
He also served as IG Operations, Twin City Commissioner of Police and Special Director State Vigilance. He joined BSF in the 2018 on deputation and severed as IG Frontier HQ, South Bengal, IG (Personnel) at Force Headquarters, Additional DG BSF Eastern Command Kolkata and Special DG Operations at Force Headquarters, New Delhi.
Khurania was also awarded Governor’s Medal, Police Medal for Meritorious Service, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, Ati Utkrisht Seva Medal and Police Antrik SurakshaSeva Padak.
