Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) has advised the state government to increase the study hours of schools considering the changes in weather condition.

In a letter to the government, chairperson of the Commission Sandhyabati Pradhan has pointed out that since cyclone ‘Asani’ has already crossed without affecting Odisha and temperature across the state is also nit very high, the latter should consider raising the school hour for the benefit of students.

She apprehended that the teachers may not be able to complete the schedule curriculum of the students during 27 working days till June 4. Besides, the government has announced two more holidays on the occasion of ‘Buddha Purnima’ and ‘Sabitri Amabasya’.

Considering that the study of the students would be affected due to curtailed timing, the chairperson suggested to the government to increase the school time by at least one hour.

Earlier, the government had announced school hours from 6 am to 9 am due to heatwave condition in the state.
