Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed his grief over the death of five persons in lightning strikes in Bargarh and Balangir districts on Wednesday.
While three persons were killed and two others critically injured in lightning strike in Padampur block of Bargarh district, two persons died and another sustained critical injury in a similar incident in Khaprakhol area of Balangir.
Expressing deep condolences to the bereaved families, the Chief Minister also announced ex-gratia assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.
The Chief Minister also directed the district administration to ensure proper medical treatment free of cost for the seriously injured persons.
