Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the state government is promoting dairy sector with suitable policies as it has a potential to create huge job opportunities in rural areas and additional income for farmers.
In a message on the inauguration of a two-day Dairy Summit-2022 organised in Balangir on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that with new technologies, products and processes in place, dairy farming is attracting young entrepreneurs to set up startups.
Inaugurating the summit, Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) Chairman and Advisor to Chief Minister Asit Tripathy said Balangir has made significant progress in dairy sector and become a major milk producing district in the state.
Stating that dairy sector provides great employment opportunities, he advised the youths to make use of the attractive policies of the state government and set up dairy units for the development of the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Balangir district Collector Chanchal Rana said milk production can provide a sustainable income to the farmers and help in doubling their income, thereby enabling the administration to prevent migration in the district.
As the state government is taking a slew of measures for the development of dairy sector, Balangir district aims to emerge as a major milk production centre in the country in the next five years, he added.
