Bhubaneswar: Activists of BJP Yuva Morcha burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar attacking him for his silence over worsening law and order situation in Odisha in the backdrop of the broad daylight killing of Minister Naba Das.
While the saffron party has been staging state-wide protests against deteriorating law and order situation, its youth wing took out a rally in Baramunda area of Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
Holding placards and banners, the protesters shouted slogans against the Chief Minister and burnt his effigy. The demondtrators also demanded the resignation of Naveen.
Terming the silence of the Chief Minister on the murder of Naba Das by a policeman as highly condemnable, the BJP Yuva Morcha has decided to burn the effigy of Naveen in every Assembly constituency.
Stating that Odisha has witnessed many crimes starting from Pari episode to the Naba Das murder, the protesters said surprisingly the Chief Minister, who is in charge of the Home department, has been silent on all issues.
Claiming that women in the state are not feeling safe and secure, BJP district president Babu Singh said the party’s protests would continue till the Chief Minister tenders his resignation.
