Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will leave for New Delhi on Friday to attend the meeting of CMs of Maoist-hit states convened by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The CMs of ten states, dealing with the threat of Left-Wing Extremism, will be attending the meeting on Sunday (September 26). Chief secretaries and DGP will be in attendance.
Special emphasis will be on Chhattisgarh, followed by Jharkhand and Odisha.
Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Intelligence Bureau Director Arvind Kumar and senior officials of the home ministry and DG, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), will be attending the meeting to be held in Vigyan Bhawan. The IB is expected to make a presentation on the issue, India Today reported.
Naveen had last attended the 5th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog in the national capital in June 2019.
The Chief Minister has mostly stayed indoors since the COVID pandemic hit Odisha in March 2020. He has limited his public appearances and toured a few places like Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Malkangiri, Puri and Cuttack in the last some months.
On Wednesday, he distributed smart health cards to beneficiaries at Titlagarh, Patnagarh and Balangir during his visit to the western Odisha district.
