Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday directed officials to undertake post-cyclone restoration and reconstruction work on a war footing.
Presiding over a virtual meeting after conducting an aerial survey of cyclone-hit districts earlier in the day, the CM directed the departments concerned to assess the number of damaged houses and submit a report within a week.
Stressing on early restoration of power and drinking water supply, he hoped that all major roads in cyclone-hit districts will be cleared by this evening.
On the possibility of a flood situation in Baitarani river, Naveen directed the Jajpur and Bhadrak district administrations to remain on high alert.
Thanking officials for the flawless management and successful tackling of the cyclonic storm, he said that the cooperation of people with the administration in management of natural calamities has made Odisha a leading state in disaster management
The CM thanked the people and civil society organizations for assisting the administration in evacuating people from low-lying areas and continuous support from the Centre and central agencies like NDRF and IMD in times of calamity.
