Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government asked all the degree colleges under the aegis of the higher education department to hold proper verification and authentication of the physically handicapped-orthopedically handicapped (PH-OH) students’ disability certificates.
The order is for students who have got admission during 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 academic sessions under the reservation category.
Higher education secretary Saswat Mishra directed them via a letter to principals of the government/non-government/self-financing degree colleges on Monday. Mishra directed them to adopt necessary measures to filter out students who were admitted after submitting fake disability certificates.
According to the officials, it has come to the department’s notice that some students have taken admission in Bhadrak (Autonomous) College in recent years under the persons with disability (PwD) quota by furnishing fake certificates. The state government immediately swung into action following information about the forgery and a probe into the matter is already under way.
