Bargarh: Former minister and Congress MLA from Bijepur, Ripunath Seth died of heart attack on Sunday. He was 64.
On Saturday, Seth complained of discomfort and chest pain at his house at Barpali. His family members rushed him to a local private hospital and from there he was taken to another private hospital in Burla where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
A Congress leader, Seth served as School and Mass Education Minister, Energy Minister and Sports Minister during the Congress Government in Odisha from 1995 to 2000. He was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from the Bijepur Assembly segment in 1995.
Seth had also contested from Bijepur Assembly segment in 2019 against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, but lost.
