Bhubaneswar: Even as Congress leader and former MP Pradeep Majhi joined BJD at a special function in Nabarangpur on Saturday, senior Congress leader Tara Prasad Bahinipati told him to surrender his pension he was entitled to as party member.
Majhi along with his supporters joined the BJD in the presence of Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das and Nabarangpur MP Ramesh Majhi at the function organised at a function organised in the ground in front of Circuit House in Nabarangpur. BJD president and chief minister attended the function on virtual mode.
Taking a dig at Majhi, Bahinipati said such leaders have betrayed the Congress. “After earning name and fame as a leader from Congress platform, they have joined the ruling BJD only with the aspiration to get powerful government posts,” he said.
He further said since these leaders are entitled to pension after getting elected as Congress candidates, they should distribute it among poor people or donate to any religious institution.
Stating that Majhi has committed a blunder by quitting Congress, Bahinipati said his party will organise a massive function to welcome the people who will join the party in Majhi’s village.
