Berhampur: Saka Sujit Kumar, the Congress candidate for Digapahandi Assembly seat in Odisha’s Ganjam, have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a builder.
According to police sources, three persons, including a builder identified as Sudhansu Sangram Padhy of Sihala, were beaten up by some miscreants when they were working at a plot in Kukudakhandi near Berhampur police station on Wednesday. When Padhy and his associates were on their way to the police station to lodge a complaint, the Congress candidate allegedly attacked them.
Based on a complaint, police on Thursday arrested Kumar and his aide K Amit Kumar, the PTI reported.
Kumar and Padhy are both into real estate business, and professional rivalry is suspected to be the reason behind the incident.
