Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 16 new COVID-19 cases and 12 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the active tally to 111 on Tuesday.
The state had seen 13 fresh infections on Monday after reporting 10 cases for two consecutive days.
According to the I & PR department, 10 of the new cases are from quarantine and 6 local contacts. Three among them are in the age group of 0-18 years.
Here are the district-wise figures of the new cases:
1. Balasore: 1
2. Balangir: 1
3. Kendrapada: 3
4. Khurda: 4
5. Rayagada: 2
6. Sambalpur: 1
7. Sundargarh: 3
Besides, 1 from the state pool.
With these cases being detected from 17,834 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 0.08 per cent.
Notably, 13 districts have turned COVID-free with nil active cases. They are Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Jharsuguda.
Reacting to a spike in cases across India, Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra had said that only seven-eight districts in Odisha were at present reporting COVID cases and the situation in the state wasn’t alarming.
He advised people to exercise caution and said that daily tests had been increased as per ICMR guidelines.
