Bhubaneswar: A constable of the Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP) and two others, who were arrested for attempting to kidnap a woman from Saheed Nagar on Monday night, were forwarded to the court on Tuesday.
According to reports, the woman had a quarrel with her family members and was on the way to the Saheed Nagar Police Station when the three accused going in an auto-rickshaw offered her a lift.
After the woman accompanied them, the auto-rickshaw driver went on a route that did not lead to Saheed Nagar police station. Sensing foul play, the woman jumped out of the vehicle and shouted for help.
As the locals gathered, the drunk accused could not escape. The locals caught the three persons and informed the police.
The Saheed Nagar police rushed to the spot and arrested the trio.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the OSAP constable was on duty at the Khandagiri Police Station from 9.30 pm on Monday to 7.30 am on Tuesday. But he had skipped his duty.
