Bhadrak: Haramohan Nayak, a havildar, posted at Bhandaripokhari police station in Odisha’s Bhadrak district was detained on Tuesday for allegedly sexually harassing the wife of an accused.
According to the complainant, her husband was arrested on March 14 over a property dispute and later remanded to judicial custody. While being forwarded to court, he had borrowed the mobile phone of the havildar to talk to his wife.
Nayak later contacted her on the number. He even went to her house and allegedly sought sexual favours to release her husband.
She screamed for help as the havidar tried to molest her. Hearing her screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and nabbed Nayak. They later handed him over to the police.
