Bhubaneswar: A total of 125 companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) will be deployed to ensure smooth and peaceful voting during the fourth and final phase of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha on June 1.
Giving details of arrangements made for the final phase polls at a press meet in Bhubaneswar, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunj Bihari Dhal said highest number of 22 CAPF companies would be deployed in Balasore district followed by 20 in Jajpur.
He said over 99.61 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state on Saturday.
Among them, over 50.88 lakh are male, while the number of female voters is around 48.72 lakh and the number of third-gender voters is 6087.
The CEO said that six parliamentary constituencies of of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Mayurbhanj and Jagatsinghpur and 42 Assembly segments under these Parliamentary seats will go to polls in the last phase of the elections in the state.
Elaborate arrangements have been made for smooth voting be held in 10,882 polling centers in the state, while 14 booths will be entirely managed by women, he said.
More than 70,000 polling staff will participate in the election work in the final phase.
A total of 460 candidates are in the fray in the 4th round of elections in the state. Among them, 394 candidates are contesting the Assembly polls, while 66 are in the fray in the six Lok Sabha constituencies.
