Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in the attack on a district president of BJP in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
The incident took place when BJP’s Ganjam district president Subash Sahoo and one of his close associates were going to the house of Sahoo’s relatives at Totapada under Ghanteswar outpost in Bhadrak district on Monday.
A group of BJD workers attacked both Sahoo and his associate near the relative’s house. They also damaged the BJP leader’s car parked there. Sahoo sustained injuries on his hand.
Following the incident, Sahoo filed a complaint at Bansda police station. The police registered a case and started investigation into the allegation.
Meanwhile, hundreds of BJP workers staged a dharna in front of the outpost demanding arrest of the assailants.
A police team, led by IIC of Bansda police station Debaraj Jena and Ghanteswar outpost in-charge Suryakanta Mohanty, traced the five accused and arrested them. The arrested persons were forwarded to a local court later in the day.
