Bhubaneswar: Elections for the Notified Area Councils (NACs) at Attabira and Hindol in Odisha will be held on April 3, the state Election Commission (CEC) announced on Tuesday.
The tenure of Attabira NAC in Bargarh district and Hindol NAC in Dhenkanal will end on April 12 and the entire election process is to be for the new councils will be completed in time. Voters will elect the councillors and Chairpersons in the two NACs
Addressing a press meet in Bhubaneswar, State Election Commissioner A P Padhi said the detailed election process will be notified by the respective electoral officers on March 3, 2023.
The aspiring candidates can file their nominations before the concerned electoral officer from March 9 to 15.
The nominations will be scrutinised on March 17, while the deadline for withdrawing the nominations has been set on March 20, he said.
The polling will be held on April 3, while the votes will be counted and the results will be declared on April 5.
The elections for the office of Vice-Chairperson of these two urban bodies will be held on April 19.
The model code of conduct in the two NAC areas came into effect from Tuesday and will remain in force till completion of vote counting on April 5.
A total of 13,520 voters will cast their franchise at 12 Wards in Attabira NAC in Bargarh district, while 9,877 voters will vote at 16 Wards in Hindol NAC in Dhenkanal district.
