Cuttack: Following the announcement of a 60-hour complete shutdown in the three north Odisha districts of Balasore, Jajpur and Bhadrak by the state government on Thursday to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), security was beefed up in the border area of Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts.
Briefing the media here, Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay said that security has been beefed up in 37 routes along the border area in Balasore connecting West Bengal.
Barricades have been put up in these routes with 24-hour patrolling to stop the infiltration of any person into the district from West Bengal. Besides, similar measures have been taken in 22 routes along the border in Mayurbhanj district connecting the neighbouring state.
Appealing to the people of Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur district to strictly adhere to the shutdown guidelines, the DGP warned that violation of the guidelines will be severely dealt with.
