Bhubaneswar: As a preventive measure to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday began sanitisation of the city thoroughfares.
Acting on the directive of the BMC, Fire Services personnel began sanitisation in Bapuji Nagar area by spraying disinfectants on the roads in Raj Mahal Square, Sishu Bhawan Square, CRP Square and Ganga Nagar in the morning and later sanitised the National Highway from Baramunda and CRP Square.
Talking to the media, Fire Officer Ramesh Chandra Majhi said that the sanitisation drive is being done to deactivate the virus.“We will sanitise the remaining areas and the National Highway passing through the city in a phased manner,” he added.
