Berhampur: To contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Ganjam district administration has decided to conduct a door-to-door survey in the entire district to conduct a health check-up of the people.
Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange informed that about 40 lakh people in the district will undergo a health check-up.
“One team for each village and urban locality will collect the health data and the travel history of each family member. The team will comprise local Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, teachers and the health supervisor. Priority will be given to the people suffering from cough, cold and fever. On the basis of the data, a team of doctors will examine the health of these persons. The survey work will be completed in three days,” he added.
The Collector said that Block Development Officers (BDOs) will be trained for the cremation of COVID-19 patients. The BDOs will prepare a list of the number of people of the district who will return after the lockdown period is over.
The Collector directed the officials to submit a detailed list of the places where cooked food is provided to the people. Besides, the officials on tour have been asked to keep food packets for destitutes.
He also informed that those willing to donate cash or kind to the poor and destitute can do so at the District Corona Cell.
Maintaining that the administration has directed officials to ensure that children and the elderly cannot move out of their house under any circumstances, Kulange said anyone found moving outside without wearing a mask will be penalised.
