Bhubaneswar: After Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh district administration on Tuesday announced closure of 32 schools in 3 blocks for two days due to the flood situation triggered by heavy rain under the influence of back-to-back low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.
According to the official order, 11 schools in Gania, 2 in Khandapada and 12 schools in Bhapur will remain closed till August 17. Though classes will remain suspended, teachers have been asked to remain present in the schools.
Notably, Four teams of Odisha Fire Services (each having 7 members) with necessary equipment have been deployed in flood-affected areas of the district.
Earlier, the Jagatsinghpur administration had ordered for closure of all schools in the district till August 17 in view of the flood situation in the Mahanadi river basin.

After the review meeting with senior officers and collectors of ten districts in Mahanadi basin, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed them to maintain extreme vigilance to ensure zero casualty. He also asked the authorities to minimise road communication disruption, evacuate people from vulnerable areas and execute relief and rescue process.
