Jagatsinghpur: Amid the threat of flood situation in various parts of Odisha, all the schools in Jagatsinghpur district will remain shut for two days till August 17.
According to an official notice, the district collector has instructed all the block education officers (BEO) for the closure of schools due to flood situation.
“It has come to the notice that some of schools are inundated or there is possibility of inundation of flood water. Therefore, the BEOs are directed to shut the schools to ensure safe custody of valuable assets, electric and electronic equipment, records of schools, MDM stocks,” it added.
It is pertinent to mention here that a massive breach of around 70 feet was reported on the Mahanadi embankment at Jaysankhapur in Kujang area of Jagatsinghpur, leading to flooding of Jillanasi and Madhapur. Likewise, a breach has also occurred near Badabalikani village at Paika river embankment.
