Nuapada: Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Jonk police station in Odisha’s Nuapada district, Gurudev Karmi, has been suspended on charges of ‘gross misconduct’ and dereliction of duty.
Director General of Police (DGP) Y B Khurania ordered the action after a gambling den in Nuapada district’s Thelkobeda village was busted late on Saturday and 80 people were arrested.
During a raid at the gambling den, Rs 50 lakh cash, 25 cars and over 10 motorcycles were seized.
Police sources said the gambling den was operating for the last several months in a house near a cowshed. The police locked the main gate from outside and conducted the raids.
The arrested persons were taken to the police station and further investigation is on.
As per the order issued by the DGP, during the period of his suspension, Karmi will remain under the disciplinary control of DIG of Police, SWR, Koraput. He will draw the SA and DA as admissible under Rule 90 of Orissa Service Code.
