Bhubaneswar: A man, who claimed to be the president of an association of ‘ghosts’, has been arrested by the police in connection with a decade-old murder case in Odisha.
The accused, identified as Bipin Kumar Routray, was arrested in connection with a murder case of 2013. A team of police personnel apprehended him from his village.
Bipin was in news recently for his remarks made in social media. He has been claming himself at the president of more than 40 lakh ‘ghosts’, including some political leaders.
According to sources, as many as three warrants were issued against Bipin. Following a tip-off, a team of Sadar police arrested Routray from his native village today at around 3 pm.
His statements went viral on social media after he claimed to be in contact with more than 40 lakh ghosts.
The accused had also claimed that a deceased political leader had joined the ghost association headed by him. He further claimed that ‘ghosts’ will be visiting Jharsuguda Assembly constituency where by-election is slated to be held on May 10.
He had also claimed that slain minister Naba Kishore Das, whose murder has necessitated Jharsuguda bypoll, was among the members of the association.
While his arrest has been welcomed by many, several others have raised questions over the delay in apprehending him.
