Bhubaneswar: A day after Odisha Governor Raghubar Das called on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Niwas in Bhubaneswar, opposition Congress on Friday termed the meeting as violation of protocol by the head of state.

Senior Congress leader and former Minister Panchanan Kanungo told reporters that the Governor visited the residence of the Chief Minister after returning from New Delhi where he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Terming the Governor’s visit to Naveen Niwas to meet the CM as a breach of protocol, he said a Governor should never pay visit to a Chief Minister as it is against the protocol, unless the Chief Minister’s health condition is poor.”

Therefore, the Governor’s secretariat should issue a clarification on the matter, Kanungo said.
The official ‘X’ handle of the Governor described the visiting as a ‘courtesy’ call.

“Hon’ble Governor paid a courtesy visit to Hon’ble Chief Minister at Naveen Niwas. He discussed about development of Odisha in details and wished hon’ble CM good health and active life in service of the state,” said the handle posted with photos of the visit.
