Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Monday approved introduction of ‘Uniform Allowance’ for the employees of Fire Services Department.
The uniform allowance will be in lieu of existing centralised procurement of uniform and other items at Rs 5,700 per annum for employees including assistant fire officer, station officer, fitter station officer, assistant station officer, havildar, fireman, fireman driver and helper fireman, stated a notification issued by the Home Department.
Similarly, it has been decided to pay Rs 5,800 per annum to leading fireman, driver, havildar mechanic and Rs 2,000 per annum to follower orderly. The payment of allowances during 2022-23 shall be allowed against the exhausted items based on the above rate proposed, the notification stated.
The proposed allowances shall be sanctioned annually in the month of July.
The fire services directorate shall workout the shortfall items and amount payable thereon to eligible employees during 2022-23.
The officers/ employees, who have less than six months of service for superannuation on July 1, shall not be entitled for uniform allowance for that year.
The fire services directorate has been asked to prescribe detail dress code for all officers/employees covered under the uniform allowance to maintain uniformity.
