Bhubaneswar: In order to monitor various health and family welfare programmes at ground level, the Odisha government has allowed hiring of vehicles by CDMOs, SDMOs and medical officers at district level.
In an official letter issued on Friday, Shalini Pandit, secretary, Health and Family Welfare department stated that monitoring of the programmes through intensive ground level supervision would yield real service to the people. Considering this, the government has allowed necessary logistic support along with hiring of vehicles for programme monitoring.
The Chief District Medical and Public Health Officers (CDM&PHOs), Director of Rourkela Govt Hospital and Director of Capital hospital and medical officers of AD/JD rank posted at district level and given charge as programme officers can hire two vehicles following prescribed financial norms.
Similarly, each sub-divisional hospital can hire one vehicle for programme monitoring. The concurrence of Finance department to this effect has been communicated to all the CDM&PHOs.
