Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has extended the timeline for submission of applications for family pension in case of death of an employee in service for one more year.
According to an official letter of Finance department issued on Thursday, the government has extended the benefits of family pension to all eligible employees covered under National Pension Scheme (NPS) upon their in-service death.
The existing government employees covered under NPS had been given the option to avail the benefit by May 10, 2023. But it has come to the notice of the government that some employees in service could not submit their option within the stipulated period.
Considering this, the government has decided to extend the timeline for one more year i.e., upto May 10, 2024 for the serving government employees to exercise their option for availing the benefits of family pension under NPS, the department said.
