Bhubaneswar: The state government on Tuesday issued compulsory retirement order to five officers for allegedly resorting to dishonest, inefficient and corrupt practices in their services.
According to sources, the government served the order on five officers including a DSP, an OAS officer, a police inspector and two executive officers of municipalities.
One of the officers is Rabindra Kumar Sethi, who served as DSP in Investigation Unit on Crime Against Women (IUCAW) in Kalahandi district. He was arrested by Vigilance while accepting Rs 5,000 as bribe from a complainant. He was issued compulsory retirement on corruption charge.
OAS officer Sushil Kumar Kujur is another officer, who was arrested for allegedly siphoning MGNREGA fund of more than Rs 24 lakh by producing false bills towards planting saplings in afforestation programme.
Police inspector Binod Bihari Nayak of Bangamunda in Balangir district was arrested by Vigilance sleuths for carrying unaccountable cash of over Rs 5 lakh last year. He has been served compulsory retirement order on charges of corruption and inefficiency.
Similarly, executive officers Tapas Ranjan Jena of Basudevpur Municipality in Bhadrak district and Bijaykrishna Nayak of Karanjia Municipality in Mayurbhanj district have been told to go on compulsory retirement.
Jena faces the charge of inefficiency, dishonesty, dereliction of duty and irregularities in financial transactions while Nayak has been accused of inefficiency, immoral activities, illicit relationship with women and violation of stipulated government rules.
With this, the state government has issued the compulsory retirement order to 151 officials so far.
