Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has issued an official notification for the grant of additional casual leave (CL) for women employees considering the physical discomfort during their monthly menstruation.
The government has now extended the benefit of 12 days of CL (one day every month) for women employees, in addition to the 15 days they are currently entitled to
As per the notification, this will be over and above the existing 10 days of casual leave and 5 days of special casual leave.
Moreover, the state government female employees, aged up to 55 years (till completion of 55 years of age), can avail of one day of additional casual leave every month.
If not availed, the additional casual leave of a month will lapse at the end of the month and cannot be carried forward to the subsequent month.
“The office memorandum supersedes finance department O.M No 6466/F dt. 12.03.2024 (which was regarding the grant of 10 days of additional casual leave in favour of state government female employees over and above the existing 10 days of casual leave and 5 days of special casual leave,” the notification said.
It may be noted that the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) had recently stated in an official note that all the women employees of Odisha government can avail the additional 12 days of CLs annually apart from the 15 days they get currently.
On Independence Day, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida had announced that women employees will be entitled to a day’s paid menstrual leave per month.
While the woman employees can now avail 27 days of casual leaves, men are entitled to 15 days of CLs. The 12 days of CL can be utilised one day per month and will be available in addition to the existing 10 days of regular Casual Leave and 5 days of Special Casual Leave.
